Our summer camps are ALL INCLUSIVE! Kids will be provided a healthy lunch and 2 snacks each day. Our camp hours are from 9am to 4:30pm, but our parent friendly pickup and drop off extends our supervised hours 30 minutes on each side of the camp day. So drop off is as early as 8:30am and pick up is as late as 5pm. We provide all the climbing equipment required, however kids that have their own can bring it.
All camps take place at Übergrippen Indoor Climbing Crag located in the South Central Park neighborhood of NE Denver area near the intersection of Montview and Central Park at 8610 E. 21st Ave, Denver, CO 80238. Our camps will spend significant time both indoors and outdoors during the day. We will take advantage of our great outdoor spaces at our facility as well as explore some of the surrounding neighborhood.
Our summer camps are designed for kids from 7 to 12 years of age. Kids will be divided into smaller groups of approximately the same age. This allows older and younger kids to have a unique experience tailored for them. Our experiential camps will be fun and engaging for all kids in this range.
We have been asked about younger children participating. We understand children vary tremendously in their developmental maturity, especially at the younger ages. We have selected 7 as our minimum recommended age since we know most of these children have completed 1st grade and have been away from home and parents for full days. These kids have also likely gained a minimum level of independence and ability to follow direction. Because of the dangers involved in climbing, kids participating in our summer camps are expected to be able to do the following:
- Following simple directions and rules (especially with regard to safety)
- Respect counselors/staff
- Being away from parents for a long day (8 hours). No separation anxiety please, we want this to be a very fun and positive place for all!
- Stay focused and attentive
- Be physically capable of doing the activities without needing constant 1:1 attention from staff. Our ratios are planned to be 6 children:1 instructor.
If you feel your younger child (6 years and older only) can meet these requirements we are extremely happy to have them join us this summer! Please use your best judgment when signing your child up for camp and feel free to contact us directly (camps@ugclimbing.com) if you have questions on the suitability of the camp for your child. In the end we want this to be a fun and positive experience for all of our campers! We do not accept ANY child younger than 6 years old into our camps.
All participants must have a waiver on file that has been completed and signed by the camper's parent or legal guardian prior to the start of camp.
Kids should wear comfortable clothing that allows free movement, athletic shoes with socks, and a hat (baseball cap or sun hat). Kids should also bring with them a small pack with the following items:
- Clean change of clothes (just in case something happens)
- Water bottle
- Sunscreen
- Personally owned climbing equipment (shoes, harness, chalk bag) if they have their own. For those that don't own equipment we will provide them with all rental equipment they need.
Please mark your child's name clearly on all of their belongings.
Kids should not bring anything valuable including cell phones, electronic games, etc. We will not be responsible for lost, misplaced, or stolen belongings. Please bring just what is needed!

CampGrippen Grouping Policy: At our summer and school's out camps, we group children by age rather than by request. This approach is rooted in child development best practices and facilitates the best possible experience for each age group.
Grouping by age:
• Promotes age-appropriate social interaction
• Encourages diverse friendships
• Supports emotional and developmental growth
• Reduces social pressure and cliques
• Helps children build confidence, adaptability, and resilience
While we understand that some campers may want to be grouped with friends, we’ve found that this structure provides a more supportive, balanced environment where every child can thrive.Thank you for trusting us with your camper’s growth, safety, and fun during our camps!
Rescheduling Policy: We always want to help make our summer camps a positive experience. If for any reason you find you cannot make a camp you book we are happy to try and help you reschedule for a different date. Rescheduling requests must be made a minimum of 21 days prior to the start of camp and are dependent on availability of another camp date within the same season. Rescheduling is always subject to availability and a $50 rescheduling fee.
