Learn to Belay

Have you always wanted to learn the ropes of climbing? If so, then this class is for you. For the same price you pay for an adult day pass and full equiment rental package you can enroll in a two-hour instructor-led learn to climb class. We will teach the fundamentals that will allow you to come and enjoy our facility on your own. The following will be taught:

- Tying in (figure 8 retrace)
- Top Rope Belaying (using "PBUS" method)
- Climbing terminology
- Gear primer (harnesses, belay devices)

We teach all of our beginner climbing classes using the Edelrid Jul2 assistive belay device. If you have another device you wish to learn, bring it in and we can provide special instruction on it for you.

Our classes include your admission on the day of the class and equipment rental (harness, shoes, and belay device).

All individuals taking this class must be at least 14 years old. Younger participants should see our Crag Akademie.

Everyone entering our facility must complete our waiver. We recommend you complete the waiver before your class to ensure you have adequate time to review the waiver and ensure an on time start to your class. Those that refuse to complete the waiver will not be allowed to take the class or climb at Ubergrippen.

Non-Members: $36 for first person, $18 each additional

Add-on Membership (2 weeks): $45 first person, $30 additional people

After completing your class, you will certainly want to return to UG to take our belay certification test and climb on your own! Add on a 14 day trial membership that includes rental equipment with your class enrollment for just $45 for the first person, $30 each additional person (with just two visits and you'll save more than $20 compared with paying day passes and full equipment rental packages). You can return everyday during those 2 weeks and experience all UG has to offer! Climbing, yoga, fitness, and community!

PLUS, if you sign up for a 6 month or longer prepaid membership OR an EFT membership before the end of your trial membership and we will credit back to you the FULL AMOUNT of the trial membership toward your membership cost.

Cancellation Policy:

8+ days notice: Full refund (you are welcome to transfer credit for another class if you prefer)
3-7 days notice: No refund, but you may receive a credit or reschedule your class.
Less than 72 hours notice: No refund or credit will be offered.

Inclement Weather Advisory:

Our facilities never close unless our staff cannot get to the facility to open the building. Please plan on attending any class that you sign up for unless you are notified via email and/or social media that the class has been cancelled or the facility has closed for the day.
